Here I'll let my ideas run amok, and express my views on International Marketing, Strategy, Innovation, Business Development, Tech and more stuff down that dark alley...

The Physiology of The Brain

I am currently reading:

Morten L. Kringelbach
HJERNERUM - Den følelsesfulde hjerne
Brain Space - The Emotional Brain (title in English) explores the forefront of research about our brains and how this ultra-complex blob of fat functions. How knowledge is stored in the brain, is highly relevant to the discussion of the effectiveness of narrative techniques in marketing. As I get on with my book, I hope to illustrate this, by combining the knowledge from brain science with my insight on the use of narrativity in marketing communications. Morten L. Kringelbach's book has not been published in English as far as I can tell, but on his website you will find extract of his knowledge in English.

Should you hold ideas about or just know a bit about the physiology of the brain, I'd love to hear from you!

Today's Quote

Let this quote begin this weeks theme on my blog: Storytelling in Marketing

"Storytelling reveals meaning without committing the error of defining it."
Hannah Arendt (1906 - 1975) Link

I hope to be able to run a theme on storytelling; focusing especially on why it works. Storytelling is a pop-name. I'll refer to narratives instead, and as I post on the topic, I will explain why.

Honestly, I have a problem staying disciplined enough to update this blog daily. It is still my gold to do so, and when I have more stuff to say, I will update it more often.

The Marketing of Eliksirs: Whisky Labels

On my "Eliksir" blog you should check out how creative writing, creative imagery and a dram of whisky may work well together to make labels for whiskies that are out of the ordinary - both the labels and the whiskies, I mean!

It's a grey zone. I could have posted this on either blog!

Another qoute on advertising

"You can tell the ideals of a nation by its advertisements."
Norman Douglas, South Wind, 1917

Quote of The Day

I thought I'd bring this quote here. A sense of irony is good!

"Advertising is the rattling of a stick inside a swill bucket."
George Orwell, English essayist, novelist, & satirist (1903 - 1950)
